New front cover development

Following the style of my chosen style model I added a coloured box in the background to make the image stand out more and become more eye catching. I used an extremely similar styled font to that on my style model but aimed for a thicker font to make it more appealing to my target audience.

InDesign

I have started to create my double page spread on Adobe InDesign, by using this I am able to make sure all of my text is in equally sized columns and the image is in the correct place.

New front cover

I decided to fully change the style of my magazine's front cover but still kept the same image as I preferred this one the most out of the numerous amounts of images I had taken.

Colour Scheme Problem

I am still trying to come up a solution to my problem. I have decided to ditch the colours and go for the simple black and white effect, but I cant make a final decision on how I want it to be. Do I have it black and white, all black or all white? I am going to again ask some people within the age range of my target audience and see what they think.

Front Cover Colours.

I thought that maybe adding a touch of colour would look nice, I used  the eyedropper tool to extract the colour from Aidan's top and played around with it a bit and made it have a hint of green.

Finally, I used the colours from both models tops. I used the colour from Aidan's top and put it over Harley's top, then I did it again but the other way round.

I then decided to do the same, but this time I used Harley. I again used the Eyedropper tool and used the model's lips as a colour guide, I adapted the colour slightly by using the colour scale that pops up when changing colour of smoothing.

I came up with idea of trying to extract colours from other places on my front cover so that I wasn't going out of my colour scheme.

To gain the first colour I used the Eyedropper tool and extracted the colour of Aidan's (the model on the right-hand side) lips, I did this because it created a nice subtle orange/brown colour.

Front Cover Dilemma

Although my front cover is no where near complete, I decided I wanted to put my main story line on to see how it would look against my chosen image.

I couldn't come up with a final decision so I asked 20 people what they thought. Two people answered that they preferred the middle more vibrant green one, and I was not keen on that option from the start so I didn't want to put that on my front cover. The top more glassy effect font got 7 votes in total, although it links more with the name in a sense it wasn't good enough to be the most popular. Rallying up a total of 11 votes the bottom font was the winner. Because I asked for advice from my target audience this will help my image of what they want become clearer.

Aidan and Harley

This is a snippet of my progress. So far I have took photos of my new models, chosen which one I liked the best and began to edit it. I have had to edit this photo quite a lot, the lighting on the model on the right was much darker than the model on the left. Because I used a green background it reflected onto the models faces, arms and clothes, this is because of the placing of the lights.
